Behind The Glamour
Commissioned by Corriere Magazine, this reportage explores a rarely seen side of Milan’s modeling world. At its heart are young women from around the globe, living in agency housing or temporary hotels. Through my lens, I followed their everyday lives—moments of waiting, quick phone calls home, small struggles with routine tasks. Their rooms held a quiet longing for home, a sense of dislocation. These images reveal the intimate contrast between the polished surface of fashion and the solitude that often lies behind it.
Italian National Rugby Team
In 2004, Max magazine commissioned me to document the Italian national rugby team during their training camp in Nevegal, Belluno. Led by Marco Bollesan—a key figure in Italian rugby history—and New Zealand legend John Kirwan, the team was undergoing a phase of intense preparation. Kirwan’s approach combined rigorous physical training with innovative methods to build both individual performance and team cohesion.Among the rising talents were Martin Castrogiovanni and Andrea Lo Cicero, who would go on to become icons of Italian rugby. My reportage captured the discipline, energy, and human moments of a team in transformation, offering a close-up view of their journey toward international competition.
Poteri fortissimi
Most Italy's influential women
In late 2006, I was commissioned to document the behind-the-scenes of a photo shoot celebrating some of Italy’s most influential women. Set in historic locations across the country, the project featured leading figures from politics, culture, industry, and art—including Giovanna Melandri, Stefania Prestigiacomo, Vinzia Firriato, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, and Maria Vittoria Brambilla. The official portraits were taken by Pascal Chevallier for the inaugural issue of Panorama First, a new news and culture magazine. My reportage captured the atmosphere behind the camera: the preparations, the fleeting gestures, and the personal moments that revealed the human side of this tribute to female leadership.
Under Heavy Skies
In February 2012, Milan faced a growing environmental crisis: air pollution had reached critical levels. Corriere Magazine commissioned me to document the situation through the work of ARPA technicians as they monitored air quality from the rooftops of the new Palazzo della Regione Lombardia and Milano Centrale Station. I crossed the city, photographing daily life under grey, oppressive skies. The visual language I chose amplified the sense of urgency, aiming to raise awareness about an invisible threat with very real consequences. This reportage stands as both documentation and a call to action.
Corriere Magazine asked me to explore an unexpected corner of urban life: the McDonald’s at Piazza Duomo, Milan, during Oliviero Toscani’s exhibition on diversity. My reportage uncovered the intense rhythm of a global fast-food system—employees in perpetual motion, meals assembled at speed, customers flowing in and out without pause. Yet within this industrial choreography, another layer emerged: families finding refuge, children absorbed in play, people using the space as a social commons. These photographs reveal a microcosm of contrasts, where efficiency meets intimacy, and corporate routine gives way—momentarily—to human presence.
The Other Side of Fast Food
Fascisti Comunque
In Predappio, nostalgia becomes ritual. Every year, a crowd gathers at the cemetery where Mussolini is buried, in a choreographed act of remembrance. There are salutes, banners, black shirts, and the language of a past that refuses to be questioned.
This series documents that persistence. Not to give it voice, but to observe its form—its repetition, its staging, its surface. I moved through the crowd without camouflage, recording the details: a band playing with solemn pride, T-shirts printed with slogans of exclusion, religious figures giving silent approval, or at least choosing not to object.
The photographs reveal an environment where ideology is not debated, but displayed—like merchandise in a shop window. Belief turns into posture, history into set dressing.
What disturbs is not the spectacle itself, but its normality. The ease with which it happens. The familiarity of certain faces. The silence around it.
This is not a work about provocation. It is about presence. And about the responsibility of looking—even, and especially, when we’d rather look away.
GIS
Carabinieri
Special Force Unit
Max magazine commissioned me to document the GIS (Special Intervention Group) of the Carabinieri. I spent three days inside their barracks in Livorno, observing their training up close. The sessions included hostage rescue simulations, shooting drills, and fast-rope descents from helicopters. The experience offered a rare look into the discipline, coordination, and intensity required for high-risk operations.
Telestreet
In the bustling streets of Milan, Rome, and Bologna, telestreet networks have become vital platforms for grassroots communication. These community-run TV stations offer a unique voice to local stories, culture, and social issues outside the mainstream media.
In Milan, telestreet channels transform neighborhoods into creative hubs where residents share everything from art to local events. Rome blends traditional storytelling with modern technology, showcasing political activism and local music that resonate with the city’s rich history.
Bologna focuses on inclusivity, amplifying underrepresented voices and promoting local artists. This community-driven content enriches local culture and encourages dialogue on pressing social issues.
RedBull Academy
I was commissioned by Max magazine to document the Red Bull Music Academy, which brought together 60 emerging artists from around the world in Rome. Set in the atmospheric Monastero di Sant’Ambrogio, the academy became a hub for lectures, recording sessions, and live performances. My photographs trace the encounters between musicians of different genres and backgrounds, capturing the raw energy of collaboration and experimentation. The images reveal a brief moment when Rome became a stage for global sound and cultural exchange.
